It's raining it's pouring, the old man is snoring.....
After 1 year of more or less NO rain, the rainy season finally came to Opuwo and the North of Namibia two weeks ago. The drought have been so bad this year, that cattle and goats in numbers have died, making it difficult for people who already are in a hard situation to make ends meet. The rain have now been so heavy that it has created other issues (for instance that the town have been without electricity for several days, roads and villages being flooded and eventually evakuated), but at least the cattle and goats are grazing on the green grass that is bursting through the red (and normally very, very, very dry) soil on the airstrip and all around Opuwo. Gabriel took the opportunity to enjoy the rain as well, and wore his rainpants for the first time, while getting muddy in the backyard!

Hello Guri! I see you made it to our new blog (you are actually the first one to visit it!)Yes, we will be in Opuwo on the 4-5-6th of July 2008. We made reservations at the campsite of Opuwo, I believe it is called Oreness. It's a pure hasard, but the site is owned by a frenchman named Jacky. Do you know him?
Well, enjoy the rain!!
Talitha
